Group Calls on the Federal Government to Recognise Young Talents.
At the second editon of the MyNigerianDream event in Abuja, the I Choose Life Foundation, a Nigerian NGO committed to investing in the health of young Nigerians (mentally, emotionally, and physically) called on the Federal Government to recognise and celebrate young Nigerian talents as the country cannot get enough of celebrating extraordinary young Nigerians.
The Foundation has been actively working earnestly to serve its primary goal with several programmes to show for it. The I Choose Life Foundation, in 2019, embarked on a sensitization campaign of more than 400 secondary school students in Kano State on the importance of staying away from drug and substance abuse. In 2020 - the Covid-19 year - the Foundation created a national challenge that engaged young people, with over 200,000 participants, to encourage them to choose life even in the face of trying times. Further activities by the I Choose Life Foundation include an Art and Tech Exhibition in October 2020, where over 10,000 people were reached in one day.
For this year 2021, the Foundation with the support of the NDLEA reached out to secondary schools to boost the mental health of the students and to once again encourage them to stay away from drug abuse.
This year’s MyNigerianDream event was the occasion with which the I Choose Life Foundation sent out it’s clarion call to the Federal Government to channel more interest in the exploitation of young talents in Nigeria and support the development and encouragement of young people excelling especially in the areas of sports and in the fashion industry.
The I Choose Life Foundation demonstrated that they do not only believe in the harnessing and celebration of young talents but also, practically lived it out as a way of life. This is evident in the incredible programmes they executed at the MyNigerianDream 2.0. The Foundation hosted several young stars, some of whom were flown into Abuja and lodged.
34 athletes, both medal-winning ones and otherwise, were presented with a cheque of 3.4 Million Naira and 10 out of 30 top fashion finalists exhibited their products, their exhibition impressed the Hon Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare as he promised them an inclusion in the National Investment Fund (NYIF) Scheme.
It was a colourful event and the joy of these young people celebrated by the I Choose Life Foundation was simply palpable. In expressing their reaction to this grand gesture of the Foundation, some young people revealed that they had never been celebrated in such a manner, hence their immense gratitude to the foundation.
With such actions, the Foundation is consistently growing a deep love for Nigeria in young people as patriotism is fostered in people who represent their country when they are continuously celebrated.
Indeed, the I Choose Life Foundation is a pacesetter and is fast on its way to becoming one of the most result-producing engineers of change, especially among young people in Nigeria.
